Founded in 1926, the group now comprises 34 companies. Bajaj Electricals was incorporated as Radio Lamp Works Limited as a public company limited by shares in July 1938. The name was changed to Bajaj Electricals Limited on October 1, 1960. Bajaj Electricals Limited has been the pioneer in propagating the high mast lighting concept to India. Bajaj Electricals has been in the field of high mast for over 20 years and over the years, has gained unmatched experience in design, development, manufacturing and site erection. BEL has supplied more than 20,000 masts with different operating systems, ranging from 10 to 60 metres.
Founded at the height of India’s movement for independence from the British, the group has an illustrious history. Bajaj Electricals has set up a world class manufacturing facility at Ranjangaon about 55 km from Pune (Maharashtra). The Ranjangaon plant is ISO 14000 and ISO 9001 certified, and is equipped with the most sophisticated, computer control state-of-the-art machineries.

Under this, over 6,00,000 BPL (below poverty line) homes will be provided with the necessary metering kits and one 11W CFL energy saving lamps thus lighting up remote villages of West Bengal, Orissa and Chhattisgarh
Bajaj Electricals is the first company in India to have designed, type tested and supplied monopoles of 400 KV Double Circuit line with a height of 42 m for Power Grid Corporation of India Limited for their project line from Dadri to Ballabhgarh.
The company’s philanthropic activities are being carried forward by the present generation under the stewardship of RahuI Bajaj. The social and welfare objectives of the Bajaj Group are being fulfilled through many trusts and foundations it has established. The assets of these charitable trusts is at present nearly Rs 7 billion.
